On December 1, 2025, Tri-Service General Hospital held the appointment and award ceremony for the new Director General, Major General Tsai, Yi-Ting, and the outgoing Director General, Major General Chen Yuan-Hao. The ceremony was presided over by Major General Tsai, Jian-Song, Director of the Medical Affairs Bureau, Ministry of National Defense.
During his tenure since December 1, 2024, Major General Chen Yuan-Hao led the hospital's medical team to promote medical quality improvement, innovation, and sustainable development. Under his leadership, the hospital received numerous accolades, including being selected as a Featured Hospital by Kang Health magazine in 2025, winning the National Biotechnology Medical Quality Silver Award, 21 SNQ National Quality Marks, the 5th Digital Transformation Excellence Award from Harvard Business Review in the category of "Medical Innovation Transformation" (Medical Center Group First Prize), the United Daily News' first Health Sustainability Outstanding Practice Award, and the National Medical Quality Gold Award for Excellence in Medical Care. Additionally, Major General Chen established the Tingzhou Women’s Integrated Health Management Center and continued the construction of the Intensive Care Medical Building, Proton Therapy Center, and Surgical Simulation Training Center, laying a solid foundation for the hospital's medical development.
The new Director General, Major General Tsai, Yi-Ting, graduated from the National Defense Medical College, Class of 1989, and obtained his doctoral degree from the Institute of Medical Science, National Defense Medical College, in 2019. He is also qualified as a full professor by the Ministry of Education. Throughout his career, Major General Cai has served in key positions, including Director of the Department of Surgery, Deputy Administrative Director, Deputy Medical Director (Executive Officer), and Director of the Songshan Branch of Tri-Service General Hospital. His rich experience and medical expertise have earned him a solid reputation for diligence and professionalism. In every role, he has fulfilled his responsibilities and achieved significant success.
At the ceremony, Director Tsai, Jian-Song acknowledged the contributions of Major General Chen during his tenure and encouraged all staff to work with passion and dedication under the leadership of Major General Cai, continuing to enhance medical services through both soft and hard infrastructure expansions, safeguarding the health of military personnel and the public, and achieving even greater accomplishments.
