TSGH Celebrates 79th Anniversary: Pioneering a New Era of Smart, Resilient, and Sustainable Healthcare

On July 2, 2025, Tri-Service General Hospital (TSGH) held its 79th anniversary celebration, hosted by Superintendent Maj. Gen. Dr. Chen Yuan-Hao. The event was graced by over 100 distinguished guests, including Director General of the Medical Affairs Bureau, Lt. Gen. Tsai Chien-Sung, NDMC President Dr. Lin Chih-Yuan, former directors, local dignitaries, and community leaders from the Neihu District. Together, they witnessed a new milestone in smart, resilient, and sustainable healthcare.
The event opened with a heartfelt performance by the Donghu Elementary School String Orchestra, whose music brought warm birthday wishes to TSGH.

Smart Healthcare: Dual AI Centers and Cross-Hospital Alliance
Superintendent Chen highlighted TSGH’s advancements in smart healthcare over the past year. The hospital excelled in evaluations and was awarded two key grants from the Ministry of Health and Welfare: Clinical AI Certification and Validation Center, and AI Impact Research Center.

In addition, TSGH partnered with National Cheng Kung University Hospital and Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital to establish a cross-hospital smart healthcare alliance.

Under the Dual AI Center Initiative, TSGH has successfully integrated clinical big data and AI technology into diagnostic workflows, improving accuracy and patient safety.


Integrated Care: Patient-Centered Platforms in Action
Dr. Chen also announced the establishment of multiple new care platforms, including: Women’s Integrated Health Management Center,Osteoporosis Integrated Care Center, andSports Medicine and Smart Rehabilitation Center.

These platforms exemplify interdisciplinary collaboration, forming a comprehensive medical network truly centered on patients' needs.

With strong support from the Medical Affairs Bureau, TSGH continues to advance major infrastructure projects:
• Critical Care Medical Building (under construction) to expand intensive care capacity
• Proton Therapy Center and Military Surgical Simulation Training Center (to begin tender by end of year)
• Military Trauma Medicine Building (included in 5-year force structure upgrade plan)
• Medical Staff Dormitory & On-call Facility (to optimize working conditions)

These projects collectively enhance combat casualty care and disaster response capabilities. In parallel, the TSGH Blood Program will launch this year, incorporating routine training with Forward Resuscitative Surgical Detachments (FRSDs).

In his speech, Director Tsai praised TSGH’s excellence in smart technology, military readiness, and global cooperation, and encouraged the hospital to continue strengthening its medical force in coordination with the soon-to-be-established National Defense Medical University (effective August 1, 2025).

Sustainability: First ESG Report and Green Hospital Vision
TSGH has completed its baseline carbon inventory and launched energy-saving upgrades. The hospital will publish its first ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Sustainability Report by the end of the year, systematically presenting progress in carbon reduction, green healthcare, and social responsibility, in line with global ESG trends.

Looking Ahead: A Blueprint for a Century of Military Medicine
The 79th anniversary concluded with cake cutting and joyful singing of "Happy Birthday," marking the beginning of TSGH’s journey toward its 80th year. Looking forward, the hospital will:
• Deepen AI clinical integration
• Expand international medical partnerships
• Accelerate military trauma medicine infrastructure
All driven by an ESG-guided governance model.
