To promote mutual respect and communications between healthcare providers and patients, Tri-Service General Hospital (TSGH) has actively embraced the Shared Decision Making (SDM) policy promoted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Joint Commission of Taiwan. Since 2017, TSGH has proactively participated in various SDM implementation campaigns and decision aid tool competitions, strengthening provider-patient communication and respect.
TSGH’s Quality Management Center has spearheaded the promotion of SDM, which earned us the "Excellence in Practice Award" during the 2024 Patient Safety Week initiatives sponsored by the Joint Commission of Taiwan. In the area of clinical practice, the Department of Psychiatry was honored with the "Outstanding Team Award" for the case titled: "I have schizophrenia with frequent relapses—should I choose oral medication or long-acting injectable treatment?"
On April 9, 2025, Director Chen Szu-Chou of the Quality Management Center, along with psychiatrists Dr. Yeh Yi-Wei and Dr. Huang Chih-Chung, attended the award ceremony on behalf of TSGH.
These recognitions highlight TSGH’s continued commitment to advancing Shared Decision Making in clinical care. We remain dedicated to enhancing physician-patient communication and promoting patient-centered care for both military personnel and civilians.
