Innovative Oral Health Care PROM Processes to Protect Resident’s Health ~ Congratulations to the TSGH Nursing Home for Winning the 2024 Nursing Institution Service Group SNQ National Quality Mark" Recognition

The Tingzhou Branch Nursing Home of Tri-Service General Hospital (TSGH), located at the Tingzhou Campus, provides high-quality long-term care services, aiming to offer residents a safe, joyful, and warm living environment. In 2019, the Tingzhou Branch Nursing Home was awarded the National Biotech and Medical Quality Bronze Award and the SNQ National Quality Mark with the project of, "Creating a Safe, Joyful, and Warm Home for the Source of Thought and Wisdom." The Nursing Home team has not been content with the status quo and continues to address residents' health issues, offering even better care measures based on their needs.
Under the leadership of Dr. Xie Jia-juan, Superintendent of TSGH Tingzhou Branch Hospital and Nursing Department Director Chen Mei-rong at the Tingzhou Branch Hospital, the Nursing Home has implemented innovative care processes designed to ensure residents live in a safe and joyful environment. After assessment, it was found that oral health issues could severely impact residents' functional abilities and overall health. As a result, the Oral Health Care PROM processes was developed (PR-PRotect for protection, O-Oral for oral care, M-Maintain for maintenance). Nurses, based on individual needs of residents under their care, collaborate with the medical team to provide oral care, including daily oral cleaning, gum and tongue care, and monitoring oral conditions, as well as assessing chewing and swallowing abilities. Swallowing training and care measures are also provided.
Through three years of dedicated efforts, the team has enhanced the staff’s oral care knowledge, improved residents' oral function, chewing, and swallowing abilities, and reduced infection rates. As a result, the Nursing Home was once again honored with the 2024 "Nursing Institution Service Group SNQ National Quality Mark" recognition as an accomplishment of excellence.
