Since 2001, TSGH has actively supported the national "Maternal and Infant-Friendly Policy" in line with the spirit of the World Health Organization's (WHO) "Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding." TSGH has integrated efforts of multiple departments, including Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Nursing, and the Medical Quality Management team, to develop a comprehensive maternal and infant-friendly policy.
This includes the "Pregnancy and Birth Journey – High-Quality Maternity Care Train," which offers expectant mothers holistic, high-quality care throughout their pregnancy journey, from labor preparation, delivery, and post-delivery recovery, to discharge and return home.
In terms of hospital hardware and infrastructure, TSGH has also incorporated breastfeeding-friendly designs in hospital facilities. The prenatal clinic, delivery rooms, and post-delivery wards are all located on the same floor, ensuring that mothers receive seamless, integrated care. This design facilitates everything from prenatal education and skin-to-skin contact during delivery to breastfeeding support in the postpartum period, offering a one-stop, comprehensive service for mothers.
