Inauguration Ceremony Installing Major General Chen Yuan-Hao as Incoming Superintendent of Tri-Service General Hospital (TSGH)

In the morning session on November 28th, 2024, Tri-Service General Hospital (TSGH) held an inauguration and award ceremony for the handover of responsibilities from outgoing Superintendent, Major General Hong Yi-Ren, to the incoming Superintendent, Major General Chen Yuan-Hao. The event was presided over by Lieutenant General Tsai Chien-Sung, Director General of Medical Affairs Bureau of Ministry of National Defense (Surgeon General of MND).
Since taking office on March 1, 2023, outgoing Superintendent Major General Hong Yi-Ren has actively led TSGH’s medical team in participating in various healthcare quality improvement initiatives. Under his leadership, the one and only military medical center was honored with five prestigious awards, including a 4-star rating in the Newsweek Global Hospital Rankings, the National Healthcare Quality Award's Diamond and Gold Medals in the Medical Category, and three National Innovation Awards. Additionally, the hospital received five National Innovation Excellence Awards and 22 SNQ National Quality Marks, making it the most-awarded hospital in the country. During his tenure, Major General Hong also successfully promoted the construction of the new Critical Care Medical Building, the development of the Proton Therapy Center, and the launch of the HIS2 system, achieving remarkable results and earning the admiration and appreciation of senior officials and colleagues alike.
The incoming TSGH Superintendent, Major General Chen Yuan-Hao, has held various important positions within Taiwan Military Health System, including Executive Dean of National Defense Medical Center (NDMC), Director of Medical Readiness & Healthcare Division under Medical Affairs Bureau, MND, Superintendent of Songshan Branch Hospital of TSGH, and President of the National Defense Medical Center. His extensive medical education and experience are both comprehensive and wide-ranging.
During the ceremony, Lieutenant General Tsai not only praised the contributions of outgoing Superintendent Major General Hong during his tenure but also encouraged all colleagues to demonstrate enthusiasm, follow the leadership of the new Superintendent, and continue to improve medical techniques and expand the TSGH's various services. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding the health of both the military and the public, aiming to achieve even greater success.
