To provide medical services with higher quality and precision medicine technology, the “Interventional Radiology Computed Tomography and Fusion Imaging Center” was established on December 13, 2023, in the hospital. With the assistance of Siemens Healthineers, the hospital introduced the first computer-guided surgical robotic system (ARTIS icono) in Asia. This system complements the sliding CT scanner (SOMATOM Confidence), enabling the provision of one-stop diagnosis and treatment services for emergency and critical patients. It will be connected to speedy transportation through the TSGH green channel fast track, significantly reducing diagnostic and treatment time. This will enable us to provide excellent medical services for the people.

Superintendent Yi-Jen Hung said that ARTIS icono and SOMATOM Confidence, positioned in the center, can facilitate one-stop diagnosis and treatment services for emergency and critical patients. This is achieved by the sliding connection of ARTIS icono and SOMATOM Confidence to the examination bed immediately through the TSGH green channel upon their arrival at the hospital. Based on the researched literature, the timeframe from the patient undergoing the CT scan examination to the completion of angiography treatment would be approximately 60 minutes. In contrast, this duration would be reduced to approximately 25 minutes through the one-stop process involving a CT scan. This reduction is crucial to capitalize on the golden treatment time for acute stroke patients, thereby, increasing the success rate of restoring blood flow and enhancing patient survival.

Director Wei-Chou Chang of the Radiology Diagnosis Department emphasized that the Interventional Radiology Computed Tomography and Fusion Imaging Center plays a pivotal role not only in treating emergency cases such as critical stroke patients but also in offering advanced treatments, including cerebral vascular disease, liver cancer, pain management, etc. These areas will be key topics for future development. In the future, the center will optimize collaboration with various specialties, streamlining the diagnosis and treatment process to deliver high-quality medical care to patients.
